A Plain Old Sock

I've got a lot on the needles these days...so many projects that I said to Joe the other night, "I just need to FINISH a project", to which he replied, "Then you need to stop STARTING projects."

He's probably right...I have had a major bout of startitis this summer. Lots of socks, scarves and class samples are on the needles in various baskets around the house. The problem is that they all require careful pattern or chart following, and many nights when I get home, I do not have the mental acuteness (or strength, for that matter) to focus on those patterns and charts. And so I don't knit anything.

But two nights ago I just randomly grabbed into the rubbermaid tub of sock yarn and pulled out the first ball of yarn my hand found...and cast on for some plain old, wonderful stockinette socks. Isn't it beautiful? I feel so much better...

Seriously. I know I'm the one who posted this...but I have to comment. I've been just staring at that beautiful plain old sock for a while now. I'm in love....

Comments like that are what lead to ideas like Sockday Club. When you're just SO in love with a piece of knitting that you can't stand it. Watch out!

BRENT did not leave that comment! I did. He must've logged in on my computer and I didn't know it. Argh. If it weren't his birthday....

There seems to be a lot of identity fraud going on around here, but I am really me. I can totally understand the startitis. I have 2 scarves/shawls, 2 sweaters, 2 charity projects, 1 baby item, and 4 pair of socks on the needles right now. JMJ I have got to get some of this stuff off of the needles!

Heather, that sock yarn is lovely! What is it???

And, if it makes you feel any better at all, I've got major startitis this summer too. Big time.
